Fun facts about Taylor Swifts Eras Tour

Taylor gave her Red era hat to Bianka Bryant, daughter of the late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, who was a big Taylor Swift fan.

Since my Swiftie daughter Gabbie got back from Los Angeles, her every conversation would find a way to mention Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Because of this, I couldn’t help but pick up some fun facts about the tour and be amazed myself at how Swift does it all.

Gabbie shares a few more of these fun facts…

With a three-and-a-half-hour concert, a lot can happen. Taylor has 16 outfit changes to showcase her 17-year career and has worn more than 40 different costumes (and counting) throughout the sold-out tour. These outfits are all custom-made by Versace, Elie Saab, Roberto Cavalli and other renowned designers. With her bejewelled leotards, sequin blazers, and gorgeous clothes, it’s hard not to be captivated during the performance. Each costume is specific to one of her eras, with a unique corresponding style and color.

As for Swift’s instruments, of course they would change throughout the concert, too. Her bedazzled guitars, for example, were even decorated by her parents! Taylor once shared on her Instagram that for this tour, her parents crystalized her guitar (by hand) with super glue. Talk about parents’ love!

Outfits and instruments aren’t the elements that change during the Eras Tour. Every seat in each 80,000-capacity stadium has a light-up bracelet that activates 10 minutes before the show. Each bracelet is synced to the theme of the era and to the beat of the songs as well. Each album in Taylor’s discography has a corresponding color associated to it, and the bracelet would reflect that as well. Definitely a fun, color-coded element of the show!

And if all these aren’t impressive enough, let’s talk about just how intricate and remarkable her stage sets are. First, there are different parts that are connected to somehow work together. There is the main stage, the diamond stage, and the catwalk that leads to the end. With this, Swift ensures that every person in a stadium gets to see her perform! And as seen by the theme of the tour, each segment pays homage to a different album and phase, as do the sets.

Although each era is a showstopper in its own right, let me talk about the “extra notable” ones. During the Lover era, a dollhouse-like home appeared onstage, which Swifties would recognize from her iconic Lover music video. In an era like Evermore, woods grow out of the stage to represent that album. In this portion, Taylor sang on a moss- covered piano and received a long ovation in the show I saw. At one point, she even brought out a cabin on stage to symbolize the Folklore album. For 1989, there were glow-in-the-dark bicycles that backup dancers rode all around the stage, and real fire during Bad Blood.

Aside from that, the Swifties definitely don’t hold back during the shows. The Swiftie community has learned to incorporate inside jokes and chants through particular songs, and Swift has learned to play along as well. So if you’re heading to the Eras tour next year, make sure you learn the chants so you can scream them along with everyone and have even more fun!

At this point, almost everyone has become a Swiftie, Hollywood celebrities included! In the L.A. shows, some of the celebrities who were sighted were Channing Tatum, Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Alicia Keys, Brie Larson, Sarah Paulson, Sadie Sink, and many, many more! At a point in the show, Swift even gives her Red era hat to a lucky person in the crowd. At the show I saw, she gave it to Bianka Bryant, daughter of the late Kobe Bryant, who was a big, big Taylor Swift fan.

Swift is known to be a “mastermind” who is always hinting and leaving Easter eggs in her work. For her last show in Los Angeles and the last show on that leg, she teased fans by showing up in a blue variation of most of her costumes because blue is most associated with Swift’s album, 1989.

Lo and behold, during the surprise era segment, she came out in a gorgeous blue dress and announced that her album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will come out on Oct. 27! What made that even more special for lucky L.A. fans was that because SoFi stadium is so close to the LAX airport, those who were at the airport or on a plane above L.A. could see the stadium project the announcement from the air! During the show, the exterior of the stadium lit up with letters spelling out the album.

Obviously, my daughter Gabbie can’t get enough of the Eras Tour even if she’s already seen it, and she’s excited to relive it all again because her stepsister Alexa Bonnevie Milmont secured two tickets to the Oct. 26, 2024 concert in New Orleans that will close the Eras world tour. I don’t doubt that Swift will have more tricks up her sequined sleeves for lucky fans, and that Gabbie will only be too happy to share these with us in 14 months.
